Every painting carries the energy of where it was born—and sometimes, the seeds of what comes next. Origins of Indigo No. 2 is the second piece in a pair within the Mementos of Orange Street series, marking the exact moment our son's name came into our lives.
While visiting a historic pigment store in Venice, Italy, we first heard the name Indigo. Raw pigments sourced during that trip were worked directly into this canvas at our Orange Street studio. Featuring dramatic vertical channels of deep crimson, burgundy, and specks of raw yellow pigment set against atmospheric teal, this floating study carries a moody, grounded energy. It is anchored in the lower right by a heavy-impasto yellow oil-stick gesture with my signature monogram stamp.
