Every painting carries the energy of where it was born—and sometimes, the seeds of what comes next. Origins of Indigo No. 1 is a deeply personal piece within the Mementos of Orange Street series, marking the exact moment our son's name came into our lives.
While visiting a historic pigment store in Venice, Italy, we first heard the name Indigo. During that same trip, we sourced raw, textured pigment clumps that were later worked directly into this canvas at our Orange Street studio. Featuring scattered bursts of vibrant yellow and cobalt raw pigments layered over atmospheric blue washes, this floating study captures the tactile, physical beginning of that memory.
Specifications
Medium: Reclaimed mixed-media canvas (acrylic, watercolor, and heavy oil stick)
Frame: 8" x 10" Light natural oak wood with a deep shadowbox profile and protective glass front(removed in photos to prevent glare)
Display: Arrives ready to hang, or stands beautifully on a desk, shelf, or mantle
Because this piece incorporates physical raw pigments sourced from Venice alongside the origin story of your son's name, it stands as an unrepeatable chapter of family and studio history. The raised, powdery texture of the pigments catches light dynamically inside the shadowbox float.
Collector's Package To celebrate its unique history, your artwork arrives with:
A registered Certificate of Authenticity detailing its origin in the Orange Street studio.
A personalized, hand-written note from the artist.
